Women’s Sporty Watches for Athletic Ladies
January 9th, 2010 Posted in Orient News | 6 Comments | Comment and Win a Free Orient Watch Comment and Win a Free Orient WatchWomen are just as active as men and have been seen surfing, speed skating and even playing football. So why wouldn’t ladies want a sports watch that works just as hard as they do?
Women are accustomed to the feminine side of life; but when it comes to sports gear, they have the same expectations in their equipment that men have, and that includes good, durable sporty watches.
This article discusses some women who love to play the game. Just what kind of sports watch do you think they wear?

For more on women’s sporty watches:
- Dara Torres, Olympic Gold Medalist for Swimming
- Lisa Leslie, Former Captain of LA Sparks
- Michelle Wie, Women’s National Golfer
Dara Torres
American swimmer who has competed in over five Olympics in her career.
In total, she’s won 12 medals; and at the age healthy age of 33, Torres was the oldest member on the USA Swim Team. On August 1, 2007, at the age of 40 (just 15 months after giving birth to her first child), she won gold in the 100 meter freestyle at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis—her 14th win at the events.
Torres has also broken her own record for the 50 meter freestyle at the same invitational. Her swimming career spans over 24 years of being devoted to the water. Currently, Torres hosts sports shows and models. Also, she has competed in the World Championship in Rome this year; her second return since 1986. The most reliable watch for Torres would be one that is water resistant and has a stopwatch for tracking her time.
For her, the Orient CVZ02001B would meet her needs. A watch that is 100 m water resistant and has a large face with a mini stopwatch and split timer. She can set the time and go.

Lisa Leslie
Retired from the WNBA as a three-time MVP winner and four-time Olympic gold medalist.
Leslie played for the LA Sparks as the forward and was the first player to dunk in a WNBA game. She helped the Sparks make the playoffs five consecutive times, but the team was never able to win a championship until the 2001 season when the Sparks won the WNBA title. That year, Leslie was named the 2001 Sportswoman of the Year by the Women’s Sports Foundation.
While enjoying this successful basketball career, she was also able to have girls of her own. Playing basketball was not the initial path Leslie planned. She actually wanted to be a weather woman and started playing the sport in her early college career to stay active.
Though she is retired from being a player, she hasn’t retired from being a mom, so the best productive watch for her is the CSNAA002W. While she is on the move, she can look to her digital, yet stylish wristwatch to know when to pick up the girls. She also can use it to count down the seconds as she makes one last layup.

Michelle Wie
Burning up the green in golf since age 4.
At the age of 10, she qualified for the USGA amateur championship. She also become the youngest winner of the US Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship. On her 16th birthday, she announced her plans of going professional and was backed by hundreds of endorsements offers and lots of publicity. Some of her sponsors over the years has been Nike and Sony.
Her career has taken her to over 80 different professional golf competitions, and in 2009, Wie was able to win the Lorena Ochoa Invitational with LPGA.
In 2007, her work ethic and professionalism earned her the ranking as 4th biggest earner under 25 by Forbes . She made 19 million dollars.
Wie is the kind of athlete who must look good both on and off the course, so the wristwatch that fits her is the CETAE003W. It’s simple, yet sleek with a leather band, large face, and calendar. It is also water resistant up to 50 meters.

Each female athlete requires a different women’s sporty watch that best meets her personal and professional needs.

You’ve gotta be kidding me…is this what the Orient watch site has come down to? What happened to the daily deals? Where are some more technical reviews of watches, or the technology behind them. Not a grab bag of ‘maybes’ and ‘what ifs’.

As a former softball player, I know the importance of a good looking, yet highly resilient watch. I LOVE my watches, and a stylish watch for every occasion is a big thing for me…but if it can’t stand up to the wear and tear I dish out…well, then it isn’t really worth it, is it? I really like the styling of Orient women’s sport watches…a good looking watch that can handle whatever I can throw at it (no pun intended…ok, maybe just a little…).
