I would love to win an Orient watch. I owned one years ago and wore it for many years. It was a self winding automatic with a blue face. It always kept correct time and never failed. It was reliable and rugged as I wore it every day to work. I worked in law enforcement and it held up in some very tough conditions. My son is a long haul "coast to coast" trucker and was looking for a good reliable watch so I gave him my well used reliable Orient watch. Now I want another mechanical Orient watch for myself. I am now retired and an Orient watch would be the perfect watch for travel to foreign countries-no batteries to worry about-self winding, very reliable-and tough.

Excellent intro to mechanical watches.
I am beginning to realize how good are Orient watches in terms of value and quality.
Keep up the good work!

Mechanical watches are living things, powered by the movement of their owner. Quartz watches are like any other battery-powered toy, amusing but soul-less. I live in the UK and am fortunate enough to own an Orient Submariner homage which keeps time to within +2/-2 seconds a day – and that is some accuracy. Not only that, it looks (and is) a classy piece of precision engineering. I’d like another!

I just watched the Youtube video on the winding movement and it appears that orient watch does have a better mechanism.

Is the Orient 2ER00001B currently out of stock? I have made several e-mail inquiries and even tried calling Puri-Time, Inc. hoping to talk to a live person, not an answering machine, which has happened each time that I have called. I am still waiting for a response to my question. I have become very fond of Orient watches and my blue "Mako," but the lack of follow-up to customer inquiries by the "official" US distributor, is not as impressive.
