Update – Patek Philippe BaselWorld

March 23rd, 2012 | 2 Comments

Patek Philippe has done it again! This world-renowned watch brand has come out with a new watch, the 5940 ultra thin Perpetual Calendar. The watch was released in Basel World and it made quite the splash. This watch features not only a stunning perpetual calendar but also the historic 240-caliber movement.

The case of the watch is 18K gold and has a beautiful white dial. To polish it off, the sleek leather band adds flair of nostalgic sophistication. This watch is effortless in style but beneath its beauty lies complex and complicated movements. Patek Philippe is no stranger to perpetual calendars; they have been making them since 1925.

Love Basel World. Fresh ideas. Forefront of watchmaking ideas. Can’t think of a better watchmaker than Orient to gain ideas for thier already impressive collections. Will probably never be able to afford a Patek, but love the ideas and presentation.

I can only imagine how beautiful the 5940 Patek Philippe watch must be but it’s really not too hard to accomplish such a feat when you have almost unlimited resources. At nearly $100,000.00 (0ne-Hundred-Thousand) US dollars it is far out of reach for the average citizen.

On the other hand to make an affordable, beautiful watch with a world class movement the way that Orient has done is remarkable. Now that’s an accomplishment. Anyone can afford some model of an Orient watch. I am saving up to buy one of the more expensive watches that Orient makes and I know that I’ll have it for many years.
