Sporty on Leather: A Great Team

It might seem like an unlikely combination, but a sporty watch face and a leather band complement each other very well.

Sporty dials, like on Orient racing watches, usually have more modern design features. From tachymeters to semi-skeleton faces, a racing watch can have a number of features that create a sporty and modern look, and they’re often in bright colors like the orange hands on the CFTAB003T.

A leather watchband, on the other hand, is a classic and timeless feature. Leather watch bands have been around, and they add a refined look to any watch.

That’s why these 2 features work so well together. They function like any great team should. They each have something unique to offer and balance each other out. The combination of a trendy, busy dial with the simple elegance of a leather watchband creates a unique combination that gives you the best of both worlds.

When to Wear It

So, when should you sport this trend? The answer is simple.

All the time.

Because watches like the CFTAB003T combine trendy and classic design elements, they’re very versatile and can be worn for many different occasions – sporting events, vacations, casual dinners, on a date. They make great conversation pieces for social gatherings.

While the CFTAB003T is great for casual business outings (think golfing with your coworkers), it may be too casual for dressier occasions. If you’re wearing a nice suit, a busy racing watch will clash. You may want to opt for a more minimalistic dress watch, like the CEV09001B, and save your sporty model for after you clock out of the office.

Where to Find One

Since it’s such a popular combination, it’s easy to find a sporty watch with a leather band. offers plenty of models in different colors, so there’s something for everyone.

There’s the CTD09005W, with an elegant rose gold case, or the CDB02001W, with a unique sporty semi-skeleton dial. If you like a unique case shape, like the one on the Orient CFTAB002B, then it’s leather-banded brother, the CFTAB003T, might be the best option.

I love the look of this watch. The unique shape and the brown face makes it one of a kind! Wish I could see it before buying though.
