Style Watch – Tennis

Sports and timepieces have always had a special relationship. Celebrity sports endorsements are a powerful marketing tool, especially with a winning ambassador. With the French Open only two months away let’s take a look at some tennis stars that have won big money with their talents.

Last year, Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal showed up to the French Open wearing a very impressive timepiece. During the tournament he wore a $525K RM 027 Tourbillon by Richard Mille. The watch is made of carbon-composite and lithium alloys making it light enough to not interfere with the game. The watch wasn’t part of a confirmed endorsement but skeptics would beg otherwise.

Switzerland’s Roger Federer has been a Rolex ambassador for several years now after leaving Maurice Lacroix. His frequent court partner, Andy Roddick, has also endorsed Rolex. Roddick also out-earns Federer in amount of overall endorsements – on the court it’s a different story.
