Review of Orient Mechanical Watch MODEL CDH00001W

Mark, you weren’t kidding. This watch is just beautiful. I have a lot of friends who may become watch enthusiasts after seeing this one. It must be a great to know that your products sell themselves on the merits of craftsmanship, reputation and value.

Meanwhile, before purchasing this watch, I couldn’t find a single image of it in a real-world setting. I promptly took some shots and shared them on the watchuseek forums. (Great spot!)

The latest images are here:

Thanks so much for your follow-up email, Mark!

As someone who has been following the Orient RSS for some time, but has yet to pull the trigger on buying my first one (with a new baby priorities do change), I can say this is one that I truly would like to own.

I am not a pilot, so I do not need the E6B flight computer (the outer number rings on the face), but I have always thought they were an excellent style accent for watches such as this.

Do the dials turn on the E6B, or is it truly just a style accent on this piece?

If I interpret your posted pictures correctly, it looks like the E6B does indeed turn and is not just a style accent.

It is not an EB6 slide rule to begin with. This is a fairly basic slide rule to perform add, subtract, divide and multiply calculations. You can do currency conversions. etc. EB6 slide rules are more complex as they allow you to calculate altitude, fuel conversions, etc.

So with that cleared up, yes the slide rule does turn when the crown in the 4′oclock position of the case is actuated. Take a look at my video review and you’ll see what I mean.
