An extremely though-provoking article. As human beings, I think we should do our part in retaining the beauty of our planet. There are millions of watches sold everyday all over the world. Imagine at least 10% of them are mechanical/automatic. In addition to the aesthetic appeal of these watches, it results in a substantial reduction in battery manufacturing and consumption. This certainly would be a drop in an ocean, but on the brighter side, a positive step in the right direction.

Down with batteries! You’re right, millions of watch batteries have leaked into our landfills. Mechanicals are always more sexy…and when viewable, offer a form of entertainment. Good article.
