Very nice looking watch, especially the unique case color and sapphire crystal. Nicely done. Glad to see some unique items here on the deal of the day. Looking forward to the other offerings this weekend.

Looking forward to seeing other quartz options.

  4. By Todd on Jun 27, 2009

I didn’t even know Orient made quartz watches until this deal. However, since I am a fan of automatics, I really liked the deals with included winders…that was a great idea!

  5. By Don on Jun 27, 2009

i didn’t know orient made quartz watches, good to know since that is what i prefer. i do have three automatics (1-swiss mov./2 miyota mov.) is it just the ones i have or do all auto’s tend to run faster(+ :30 or more each day) that’s why i like the accuracy of most quartz movements. thanks for the daily deals orient

  6. By Vladimir on Jun 27, 2009

This is a discovery to me. I was always sure that ORIENT designs Automatic movement only. ORIENT Quartz is new to me. Even though, I do like the watch, but my choice always goes to the mechanical/Automatic movement. Thanks.

  7. By Sam on Jun 27, 2009

A very good looking watch with sapphire crystal, but I still prefer Orient automatics.

  8. By Jason on Jun 27, 2009

This is a great looking watch at a great price. It looks like it should cost a lot more than what you’re offering it for. Keep it up!

  9. By Frank Ohlendorf on Jun 27, 2009

Nice looking, I appreciate watches I can actually tell the time at a glance. Too many watches have shiny/blingy subdials and bezels that make it challenging to simply read the time. Well done.

When will you be selling the CVZ00002J Analog/Digital?

That is a very nice quartz watch.

  11. By Frank In Miami on Jun 27, 2009

Ditto. I would jump on the CVZ00001B without giving a second taught! That watch has a strong resemblance to the Breitling B1/Airwolf ana-digi but for US$4,000 less.

    Joey, bring it on please!

Regarding Orient Quartz…. Yes, Orient has been making quartz watches for over 30 years. Until very recently I owned a 1983 Men’s Orient quartz watch in 2 tone stainless steel. The watch was perfect and required no servicing in over 25 years, other than, replacing the battery.

While Orient designs and manufactures their automatic watch movements in-house, I believe most quartz movements they currently use are sourced from Miyota.

Also another interesting tid-bit….. In Japan and some Asian markets, Orient sells solar quartz watches (Akin to Citizen Ec-Drive) from the “Light Powered” collection and they use cells mounted underneath the dial and have power reserve storage for about 6 months.

    Cool eh?

  12. By Frank In Miami on Jun 27, 2009

By the way, the Orient Quartz featured today here is absolutely beautiful! Sapphire glass on a sub $200 watch? Only Orient can deliver something like that to their avid fans!

  13. By Vladimir on Jun 30, 2009

ORIENT is an amazing company. I wonder why just a handful of organizations sell this brand in the US.

  14. By Dan on Sep 1, 2009

Is there a rotating inner bezel and if yes, what’s it for? I’m guessing that’s what the right side crown is for.

  15. By Todd on Sep 1, 2009

This watch is so jammed with features it seems almost too hard to tell time. Great bang for the buck though, tough to beat

  16. By Rob on Sep 1, 2009

“While Orient designs and manufactures their automatic watch movements in-house, I believe most quartz movements they currently use are sourced from Miyota.”

I’d imagine that Orient being a subsidiary of Seiko that the movements used are Seiko not Miyota (Citizen).

I’ll ask as well, the second crown at 10 o’clock? Rotating inner bezel?

  17. By Vladimir on Sep 1, 2009

Its a typical Quartz ORIENT watch. I would rather see here a Light Powered ORIENT.

  18. By FrankInMiami on Sep 1, 2009

Rob, some of the Ana-digi quartz Orient watches indeed use Miyota movements. Their analog quartz models all use Seiko quartz movements but the Ana-digis are the only exception using Miyota sourced movements. As incredible as it sounds, there is a lot of component sharing in this industry.

I agree with Frank….love to see the CVZ00001B as the deal of the day. Great looking watchs
