ORIENT CFTAB004B Automatic Watch

July 31st, 2009 | 14 Comments

Orient’s semi-skeleton mechanical sports watch offers a sporty look to owners.
The bold design gives out an elaborate regard to the consumer’s taste. Just from
looking at the dial, you will notice the semi-skeleton design that corresponds
with the rest of the watch’s racecar motif. The watch balances sporty with
casual; it is suitable for casual wear to business casual.

This watch is known for its distinctive designs mainly because of its
exhibition dial. You will notice the semi-skeleton watch allows for the owner to
look into the internal part of the watch. The purpose of this feature is so that
the owner can view the movement and the crown (stem or pin).

There are a total of 3 exhibition holes located at the power reserve
indicator, the 3 O’clock position, and the 9 o’clock position. One
distinguishable design is the impression of the steering wheel at the 9 o’clock
position, which covers the balance wheel of the watch. Both the 1950’s racing
numerals, as well as the time and hour indicators, are luminescent so that they
can be viewed during the evening without any difficulty.

The power reserve indicator specifies the amount of energy, in units of
hours, that is stored in the springs of the automatic watches. At full charge,
This model will run 40 hours without motion. This power reserve indicator is
located just under the 12 0’ clock position.

The case itself is very intricate because of its design. It includes screws
around the crown and the case that offers a very mechanical look. If you look at
the side of the watch, you can see the prism-shaped caseback and the curved
crystal that encompasses the dial of the watch.

The crown is in an interesting hexagonal shape. You will also notice that the
hexagonal crown is screwed down so that water does not enter the case.

A racecar windshield influences the unique exhibition caseback for this
semi-skeleton. This allows you to view the complication that is powering the

Right above the exhibition case back is the official Orient logo. The case has a
solid stainless steel construction, and withstands water depths of up to 100m.

The genuine leather has white stitching on both edges of the leather band.

The leather band uses a deployment clasp, which means you don’t have to set
the length of the leather band every time you wear the watch.

The first pic shows orange text on black for the power reserve, but the other pics show black on white for the same thing. What’s up with that?

I think I need my watches to have a round dial.

It really is hard to touch a watch like this anywhere else for the price. Quality is second to none. Its no wonder I wake up every day with the anticipation of checking out the DoD!

The stitching on the band nicely compliments the colors of the hour markers. Very nice watch!

I love the deployment clasp on the band. GREAT looking watch. I am sure that it is a great value, but still out of my range for impulse buys.

I cannot say enough good words about this watch. I own one and love it. Thanks ORIENT.

I like this watch. 2 problems though…. Lacks sapphire crystal at this price and the leather band (I know there is a bracelet version). I think the size is spot on for a tank shaped watch. Beautiful dial. But sapphire is a must for me on a piece of this caliber.

I like it…and the decorated backside is welcomed for those days when you’re bored and want to watch a pretty rotor spin ;) Band replacement might be a tough find.
