ORIENT CFM00002B Automatic Watch

September 16th, 2009 | 63 Comments

What is most fascinating about this CFM00002B multi-eye sports watch is that the make of this model is motivated by Rally car racing. Anyone in this field or a similar racing field would particularly enjoy the sporty design of this watch. Just notice how the slick design incorporates the ideals of athleticism in the field of watches. There is no doubt that this watch truly embodies those traits. This is a favorite of all the Men’s Watches Orient offers.

MSRP: $365| Today’s price: $255.50 | Comments
One of the more eye-catching features for this collection is the dial numerals located throughout the watch. You will notice that the hour indicators show bold even numerals except for the 6 o’clock indicator. In place of the 6 o’clock hour is a date indicator, which shows all of the days within a month.

MSRP: $365 | Today’s price: $355.50 | Comments

Even during the evening, you are able to see the time because the watch numerals are luminescent. Notice how the power reserve indicator is located under the 12 o’clock position.

This allows the owner to view the power that is in the spring of the watch. Since this line of watches is self-winding mechanical, the watch naturally stores power for up to 40 hours.

This watch has a unidirectional bezel (ring of the watch). One captivating feature that this watch offers is the tachymeter …

… which is located on the inner circle of the bezel, which allows you to measure the distance of a target through the rotation of the bezel. The crown (time-setting piece) for this watch comes with shoulders for protection of the crown.

MSRP: $365 | Today’s price: $255.50 | Comments
Since the watch’s screw-down crown prevents water from entering the case, the watch is water-resistant for up to 100 meters. When looking at the side of the watch, you will see that the Orient logo is stamped on top of the crown.

The band for this watch comes in stainless steel metal. The metal band has two tapered links on both sides of the dial, followed by untapered links.

It also has a combination of matte and finished metal to give a 3-dimensional effect. The clasp for the metal band is a double-locking deployment clasp.

MSRP: $365 | Today’s price: $255.50 | Comments
The CFM00002B also offers a semi-skeleton case back.

This lets you view the rotor (semi-circular piece that pivots back-and-forth) with the Orient stamp, and the rest of the mechanics of this complex timepiece.

I bought this watch previously on a deal of the day offer. It is fantastic, I’d highly recommend it. It keeps great time, it’s high quality in all aspects, looks great in person and gets lots of wrist time.

  3. By Douglas on Jul 20, 2009

    Great dial design.

  4. By Steven on Jul 20, 2009

I used to dislike this watch, but it’s design is growing on me fairly quickly.

  5. By Frank In Miami on Jul 20, 2009

I have this watch, the black bezeled version CFM0001B, and I can’t recommend it highly enough!. It is one solid chunk of steel, impeccably finished (To Orient Star standards, no kidding), the movement is dead accurate, the bracelet/clasp are so solid (Solid end links too) you can expect to find it in a watch costing 10 times as much. The multilayered dial is a work of art (You have to see it in person to appreciate the intricate details). The signed screw down crown feels solid and overall this watch is just beautiful. $189 delivered to your door, does not buy you this caliber of quality anywhere in the competition. This is a serious quaity timepiece of a super bargain price!

The bezel (unidirectional) rotates smoothly. What an awesome watch. After I am done writing this post, I am going to slap it on my wrist!

  6. By Todd on Jul 20, 2009

This is an amazing looking watch. The orange dial is enough of an accent to give it some pop, but not too colorful enough you couldn’t wear it to work (well, most places anyways). Fortunately, they managed to keep a rotating bezel so you can still tell time, otherwise it wouldn’t be as functional.

The two tone band looks very nice as well, should be able to take a lot of abuse.

My favorite part of this watch is the date complication…I love the dial! My favorite part about Orient style is the twist they throw into the normal “date window at 3 o’clock” conventionality, it really makes their watched unique.

    Surefire winner here.

  7. By Vladimir on Jul 20, 2009

This one of the finest ORIENT timepieces. It has been extremely popular in Europe.

  8. By Benson on Jul 20, 2009

Definitely an attractive watch. I like how the 0-10 range on the PRI is in orange as a “danger” zone.

  9. By Frank In Miami on Jul 20, 2009

The movement is very decorated as well. Where else can you get a watch with a 100% in-house movement, 100% built in Japan with the quality, features and looks of a piece costing 10 times more? Yep you guessed it…. Orient is the only place where you can do that.

I challenge anyone to find a watch of this caliber for this low of a price. Keep looking…You won’t find it.

  10. By George Peck on Jul 20, 2009

For those who have this watch, how is the lume?

  11. By go blue on Jul 20, 2009

I love it. Can’t go wrong with high quality, which is just what you get with Japanese watches such as Orient, Seiko, and Citizen. I can’t wait to get my hands on an Orient auto, which I hear keeps great time.

  12. By Frank In Miami on Jul 20, 2009

George the lume is good, IMO. This watch is not a diver, so its not going to have an incredibly bright lume by comparison.

But in most normal low light situations, the lume is more than decent.

  13. By RobG on Jul 20, 2009

Sharp, sporty watch! Draws some attention but isn’t “vulgar”. If I could afford it, I’d buy 2. Keep bringing these watches with “3D dials”.

  14. By Frank In Miami on Jul 20, 2009

The hands, markers, numerals and power reserve indicator hand are all lumed.

  15. By Shawn Thompson on Jul 20, 2009

I’ve been looking for a new automatic that called to me. This thing screamed my name when I saw it. I getting this one sooner or later. hopefully sooner.

  16. By Brad Smith on Jul 21, 2009

I’m seriously considering this watch. The colors and dial lay out are appealing to me.

  17. By mw on Sep 16, 2009

Such a great looking watch, and I like that it has the date on it unlike the racing-inspired slide-rule watch, which is the best looking skeleton watch out there, except it has no date on it. This one is a pretty good alternative.

Most interesting and hot looking watch for the year. Very sexy and a hot one for your loved one.

  36. By august north on Sep 16, 2009

The skill and craftsmanship that went into this piece of art are second to none. The only problem I found lay not in the masterpiece’s architecture (which is magnificent), nor in its ability to do its job, but only that it was a little rough on the wrist. A hayneedle of a problem due to the extraordinary accomplishment and expertise put into it. I’m proud to say I have worn such a piece.
