ORIENT CFM00001B Automatic Watch

September 26th, 2009 | 25 Comments

What is most fascinating about this CFM00001B multi-eye sports watch is that the make of this model is motivated by Rally car racing. Anyone in this or a similar racing field would particularly enjoy the sporty designs of this watch. Just notice how the slick design incorporates the ideals of athleticism in the field of watches. There is no doubt that this watch truly embodies those traits.

MSRP: $365| Today’s price: $255.50 | Comments
One of the more eye-catching features for this collection of men’s watches, is the dial numerals located throughout the watch. You will notice that the hour indicators show bold even numerals except for the 6 o’clock indicator. In place of the 6 o’clock hour is a date indicator, which shows all of the days within a month.

Even during the evening, you are able to see the time because the watch numerals are luminescent. Notice how the power reserve indicator is located under the 12 o’clock position. This allows the owner to view the power that is in the spring of the watch. Since this line of watches is self-winding mechanical, the watch naturally stores power for up to 40 hours. This watch has a unidirectional bezel (ring of the watch). One captivating feature that this watch offers is the tachymeter
which is located on the inner circle of the bezel, which allows you to measure
the distance of a target through the rotation of the bezel.

Since the watch’s screw-down crown prevents water from entering the case, the
watch is water-resistant for up to 100 meters.

When looking at the side of the watch, you will see that the Orient logo is
stamped on top of the crown. The crown also features shoulders for protection.

The CFM00001B also offers a semi-skeleton case back.

This lets you view the rotor (semi-circular piece that pivots back-and-forth) with the Orient stamp, and the rest of the mechanics of this complex timepiece.

The stainless steel band has two tapered links on both sides of the
dial, followed by untapered links. This band also offers a combination of
matte and finished metal to give a 3-dimensional effect.

The clasp for the metal band is a double-locking deployment clasp. If you like this watch you might also like the CEZ05003B.

Really like this one, but don’t think I can buy a watch 2 days in a row.

  3. By Douglas on Jul 27, 2009

Good looking, though may be too busy for me. But, still, I can see the quality.

  4. By Dennis on Jul 27, 2009

I like the orange and black color scheme. Very nice design. I can’t wait to get one.

  5. By Steven on Jul 27, 2009

I wish the numerals went 3-6-9-12 but this design is probably more interesting.

I have owned my CFM00001B since early June, and I can’t recommend this fantastic watch enough to the readers of this blog. it is one big and solid chunk of steel. The watch has tons of wrist presence, yet it is very comfortable to wear. Everything about this particular model is of extremely high quality, from its “Bank Vault” construction all the way to the superbly done metal bracelet, exquisite dial work and the dead accurate, in-house made caliber 46U40 21 Jewel movement with its super efficient self winding mechanism. The power reserve indicator is a delight and works really well. I also like the simple date complication subdial. The crown screws in and out smoothly and the stem feels rock solid on the hand.

The lume is very good. The hands, dial markers, numerals and power reserve indicator all are lumed.

This watch needs to be experienced in person. Once you slap it on your wrist you will have a hard time letting go of it.

Thank you Orient for another “Orient Star” high quality timepiece at a very affordable price. A similar quality mechanical timepiece from Seiko (Premier lime) will set you back at least US$800-US1,000!!!!! Here you can have this beauty for less than US$200. This watch is beyond a steal, it is a complete giveaway!!!!!

Just had the orange bezel model up not too long ago…this one should be better for people who want to wear the watch to a conservative office. This model still has the awesome date complication as well as a power reserve, a great value at this price range.

  8. By Benson on Jul 27, 2009

Very nice. I wish my birthday was this month instead of next :(

  9. By Brad Smith on Jul 27, 2009

I like the black bezel better than the orange myself. Very nice watch. I’m with George – can’t buy two watches in a week!

  10. By Frank In Miami on Jul 27, 2009

Before I preferred the orange bezel version better, but now that I own the black bezel version I much prefer it as you can wear the watch more nicely under different environments (Office, dining out, etc).

This one tempts me more than most of the DoD watches. Love the subtle orange flavor to it. Trigger finger is itching up a storm…

  12. By Vladimir on Jul 27, 2009

The watches offered on this DOD site are just getting better every day. Excellent watch, i would highly recommend to any man.

While the watch selection is getting back on track with what it used to be, the “deals” have far degraded lately.

You can get this on Amazon (an Authorized Dealer) for $184.71, which is substantially less than on here. In addition, if you get it using Super Shipper saving, that’s the total cost.

  14. By aliotsy on Sep 26, 2009

Love the semi-skeleton back on this one.

  15. By Jeff on Sep 26, 2009

Comment and win a free watch it says…. yea right more like this is a scam to get your email address so they can spam the heck out of you nobody wins period false advertising.

  16. By Joe on Sep 26, 2009

What a Beautiful watch buy it if you can!!!!!!!!

  17. By disOrienTed on Sep 26, 2009

    Hardly a deal at $255!

    …never rec’d my keychain

  18. By Dave S on Sep 26, 2009

I just got this watch with the orange bezel and I’m really liking it.

I have to agree with the “deal” pricing. These deals need to at least be competitive with Amazon, not the MSRP on the manufacturer store site.

Is the “win a watch” copy just old? There are comments from July on this posting. These same deals seem to be rotating through. Maybe the copy should be updated?

  19. By Aubrey Fowler on Sep 26, 2009

These watches are all so handsome. I know my fiance would love them. Maybe for Christmas

  20. By shica on Sep 26, 2009

well I really just wanted the free keychain but it’s nice watch. I’d if for my husband and he said he’d wear iit.

  21. By Frank In Miami on Sep 27, 2009

I got this same exact watch, early June 2009, right here when the DODs were REAL deals for 55% off or $169 delivered to my door.

I highly recommend this watch but don’t pay $255 for it when you can get it for less elsewhere.

  22. By susan on Nov 2, 2009

lovely and masculine. do those words go together?

  23. By mitchell h on Nov 6, 2009

I really like the looks of this watch. Love the face, its very sophisticated, yet state-of -art technical.

  24. By Kayce C on Nov 7, 2009

This is very nice. I’d love to win.
