ORIENT CFHAA002B Automatic Watch

The Orient CFHAA002B has a timeless look, mainly because of the classic numerals on the hour indicators. You’ll also notice that the hands and numerals have a curvature and accentuate the textured dial. The watch’s semi-skeleton look, exhibition case back, and 40 hour power reserve give you a lot of watch for your money.

When you look closely at the watch, the first thing you should notice is the interesting texture blend on the surface of the large dial. This texture is present to simply bring out the other characteristics of the watch.
For instance, the semi-skeleton hole over the 9 o’clock indicator is shown more vibrantly. The semi-skeleton lets you look into the mechanics of the watch, which is very noticeable from further away.

The second hand, located above the 6 o’clock position, is the only sub-dial on this watch, and compliments the power reserve indicator, which allows you to view how much power is left in the spring of the watch in units of hours. Since the watch is a self-winding mechanical, it has no batteries. Therefore, the watch will automatically store power as it is being worn.

Another feature to this dial is the luminescent hands. This feature
eliminates the inconvenience of not being able to view your watch during the
night. Last but not least, the watch’s water-resistant feature prevents water
from entering the case for up to 50 meters.

If you look at the side of the watch, you will notice two things. First, the case has a beautiful dome crystal …

… and second, the crown (time-setting knob) has shoulders to protect it.

When you look at the back of the watch, you will see that there is an exhibition case back. This lets you view the rotor (semi-circular piece that pivots back-and-forth) and the rest of the mechanics of this complex timepiece.

This watch comes with a deployment clasp, which prevents the watch from
coming off unintentionally. This is a great feature for those who do not like
regular clasps that usually come with models in this price range.

Another home run by Orient. Let me win this watch!

  3. By Eric on Aug 14, 2009

I REALLY want this one! Price it lower and we can talk. $315 is damn near a car payment. For that price I’ll just look at the clock in my Infiniti and look just as nice.

  4. By andy on Aug 14, 2009

Mmm… what happened to the day of 50% off dotd watches? Its been pretty disappointing lately.

  5. By Vladimir on Aug 14, 2009

Another beautiful watch by ORIENT. However, what has happen to the true DOD price schedule?

  6. By Vladimir on Aug 14, 2009

One more thing, why the ORIENT Light Powered watches are not sold through the regular or the DOD site?

  7. By Todd on Aug 14, 2009

This is a great looking watch! I love the adjacent exhibition window and sub dial, it is a neat look. The color scheme is downright beautiful, and the tank shape case makes it perfect for jeans or a suit. Unfortunately, although I am sure it is well worth it, the price is a touch steep. Still tempting…

I’m not sold on the black face with silver hands. It looks a bit busy. I like the looks of the white face with blue hands version better I think (the CFHA004W model they have here: http://www.orientwatchusa.com/watch.php?id=169). Something about the white with blue hands just makes it look that much more refined. Now, if they decide to award me with this watch for the comments contest, I certainly would not say, “no thank you”… :)

As for the discount percentage, it appears that 30% (or probably less) is here to stay unless you’re lucky enough to get a coupon code from them for more off. For whatever reason, the powers that be have not told us why the discount has lowered to 30%, and I suspect they won’t be telling us anytime in the future.

    Beautiful and classy watch

  10. By Frank In Miami on Aug 14, 2009

This is one of Orient’s nicest dressy/sporty tank watches they have. The dial, case and deployment clasp on the leather band all are superb.

However I do agree that the discount rate is not sufficient to entice more folks to spring for it.

  11. By Gary on Aug 14, 2009

I can see this beauty on my wrist now.
Every aspect of this design is striking and elegant. This economy requires steep discounts to entice the sophisticated consumer….Sorry, but I’ll just have to wait.

  12. By Matthew on Aug 14, 2009

Not a bad watch. But disappointed at the discount (or lack thereof).

  13. By Earle on Aug 14, 2009

Nice looking watch but I already have to many black dial watches and I prefer a watch with a date. Like Jason,I would prefer the CFHA004W model with the white dial and blue hands. Hope to see some better deals in the near future since I have become hooked on Orient watches.

  14. By RobG on Aug 14, 2009

I’m with Jason on this one, just not at all my style….black and red…+ busy dial…+ price…just not me.

The new automatics by Orient are rock solid, but many aren’t available in the states yet. I’m looking forward to seeing those here.

  15. By Stephen Santoro on Aug 15, 2009

I love the deployment clasps. All leather band watches should come with this. Such a nice feature!
