Classic and timeless are the two words that I would use to describe this beautiful CEX0R001W timepiece. This is one of the more popular models of Men’s Watches that Orient offers. When you look closely at the Orient CEX0R001W, you can see how the design is meant to keep this watch ceaseless. You may notice that trends come and go but only classic endures. In that sense, this watch is perfect for you if you value the traditional, timeless look of a watch.

The dial (face of the watch) comes in a very conventional look. Even the font of the hour indicators is classic. In the middle of the dial, the texture is more rigid. This is designed so that it gives the watch a more varied look.

You will notice the interesting shape of the dome-crystal by looking at the watch from the side.

One interesting attribute about the crown is the Orient logo engravings.

Just below the 12 o’clock numeral, you will find the power reserve indicator. You will notice that this watch collection is mechanical, which means that power runs from the spring of the watch. When it is being worn, the watch will automatically store energy. As a result, the power reserve indicator will let you know exactly how much energy is stored in the spring.

Notice that the band for this watch comes in solid stainless steel. The first couple of links on both sides of the dials are tapered. The links come in a matte finish secured by a deployment clasp, which offers more security for the watch so that it does not come off unintentionally.

This watch has great, symmetrical balance about the dial. And to boot, it has a lovely textured surface. Not to mention, the power reserve is fairly hard to find at this price for this caliber of watch.

  3. By E. Marques on Jul 21, 2009

I love the classic look and the unobstructed dial, not to mention the power reserve.

  4. By RobG on Jul 21, 2009

Textured dials are always winners, logo at 6 is a nice change

  5. By GeorgeH on Jul 21, 2009

I got my first Orient when I was 12 years old.
I now own four Orient automatic watches. All of them great looking.
If you are buying one watch,(hard to stop at one at these prices) buy this one, is a timeless classic!

  6. By Todd on Jul 21, 2009

The textured disc in the center of this dial really makes this watch stand out above ordinary. I have another orient watch with a textured dial and it really makes all the difference.

The power reserve dial is another touch to set it apart, since not too many watches in this price range (even if not on sale!) have such a complication.

This one is hard to pass up

This is perhaps my favorite Orient Automatic branded dress watch barnone. The white textured dial is exquisite, so does the hands, power reserve indicator, domed glass and oyster type solid bracelet.

And the price is a giveway.

For the price, this beats the Japan market only Orient Star model WZ0091EL that retails for around US$400 from Higuchi-San or Chino Watch.

Very nice watch. I like the textured dial too.

  9. By rayray on Jul 21, 2009

Simple yet classy. Easy to read and good design overall, looks like a winner to me!

  10. By Vladimir on Jul 21, 2009

This ORIENT watch presented as a very simple, yet a high end timepiece. The price is great as usual.

  11. By Matt Magleby on Jul 21, 2009

This is a very clean and classic look. I love the reserve indicator and how it adds to the visual interest without busying things up. The domed crystal and textured faces are nice touches. A lot of detail here for such an affordable watch!

One question on the color of the markers, numbers, and dials. Are they black or a metallic silver? They appear both ways depending on the picture.

  12. By Juan Calleja on Jul 21, 2009

This is, I think, an example of Japanese superiority. Understated elegance… accuracy of it’s automatic movement comparable to the best Swiss timepieces… Definitely a “must buy” for me. This is the type of watch that will be passed down to generations.

  13. By Nick on Sep 23, 2009

I’ve got this watch, and it is simple, understated, elegant and easy-to-read. One of the July commenters asked if the hour markers are black or metallic silver — They are metallic silver/chrome.
All in all a very nice watch, especially at the low price (if there’s a 50% off special running.)

  14. By David on Sep 23, 2009

This is a nice classic watch. I wish there’s a promo for 50% off like it used to be and I like it in black version.

  15. By Tim on Sep 23, 2009

Simple, classy design. The simple 12, 3, 6 and 9 are understated, but perhaps could have been a retro font. One other point – you forgot to take your own photos at the standard photo time of 10:10 :)

  16. By Earle on Sep 23, 2009

Great looking watch, love the dial. Wish we would have the old 50% off DOTD again sometimes soon. It is sure to see a DOTD that does not have a black dial.

  17. By Earle on Sep 23, 2009

Finger check. I meant to say that it is good to see a DOTD that does not have a black dial.

Beautiful. Reminds me of my CEV09001W.

I just discovered this site. Deal-a-Day of Orient watches? It’s like a dream come true, and the worst possible thing to keep me from impulse buys. ;)

Great looking watch, Simple, classy design. CEV09001W’s hour markers are silver and chrome. These colors are really classy and luxury-looking. I fall in love with this watch.

very elegant watch, is next on my wish list

  21. By Mike on May 21, 2010

    Great looking watch.

I don’t know how Orient does it, but they seem to understand how to strike a balance between retro and contemporary styling. This watch is a perfect example: a sweet retro dial design matched with contemporary case diameter. Nice.
