ORIENT CEV0M001B Automatic Watch

November 3rd, 2009 | 34 Comments

Orient is traditionally well known for the classic mechanical time pieces.
Classic pieces are those designs that remain true no matter the current trend.
This watch is no exception.

This watch is powered by a self winding mechanical movement (ORIENT caliber
46E40 Made in Japan), which means it does need batteries. It’s easy to identify
mechanical pieces because the second hands run smoothly.

The Movement functionality is Day and Date and the power reserve for the
mainspring is approx. 40 hours. The design of the dial is somewhat contemporary,
but I consider this a classic look. Take a look at the tip of the second hand
which is red.

The band has a combination polished and matte finished links for a nice
contrast. Prefer a leather band? Check out the CEV0M003W which has a brown band and white dial.

The case has a polished finish and the clasp used a fold over with a 2
push-button release.

Will this watch be offered with a leather strap? This would look great on a dark brown or black croc style strap.

  3. By Steven on Jul 15, 2009

Very clean. It’s not unlike one of the current models though.

  4. By Todd on Jul 15, 2009

This is a great looking watch! One of my favorite things about Orient is the unique day/date complications, whether it is subdials or changed positions, or separate dials. This watch is a nice combination, with the full day and date at the 6 o’clock position

  5. By Benson on Jul 15, 2009

“which means it does need batteries” I think a word might be missing here!

  6. By Vladimir on Jul 15, 2009

Another classic timepiece from ORIENT. Great.

  7. By Frank In Miami on Jul 15, 2009

So this watch has a slighter higher beat movement than other Orients?

    Anyone care to clarify?

  8. By Dan on Jul 15, 2009

I got this beautiful peice the last time it was offered as a DOD. The images do not do it justice! It is classic and modern at the same time and can be both dressed up and dressed down.

  9. By Kevin on Jul 15, 2009

Niiiiiiiice! I was never into watches and now I am scoping Orient DOD sales! Just picked up a Diver blue face and can’t wait. My friend picked up 2 divers, and a JDM Orientstar.

  10. By Kevin on Jul 15, 2009

I like this watch! Love the position of the date and the cleaner face over the CEV09002B which shows 12, 2, 4, 8, 10 … Take out the 12 and offer a leather strap and maybe I’ll be on my third Orient.

  11. By RobG on Jul 15, 2009

Always a fan of the red tipped second hands, sharp watch! (good, flexible case width too)

  12. By RogerW on Jul 15, 2009

I really like the elegant simplicity of this watch. And the day/date positioning is a very unique complication. Orient is winning me over quickly!

  13. By Steven on Jul 16, 2009

It is not a higher beat watch. The numbers which are shown are more than likely to be a typo.

  14. By Brad Smith on Jul 21, 2009

Wow! I like this one so much I sent the link to my wife so that she can buy it for our anniversary.

  15. By Eduardo Marques on Sep 19, 2009

Nice watch that would add to my Orient collection. I love classic models and this one is supreme.

  16. By Eric on Sep 19, 2009

If I had known you were going to completely revoke your excellent discounts I would have ordered everything you offered. Goodbye Orient! Your current DODs are abysmal! How are you still selling watches via DOD if your online competition is consistently out pricing you? Shame shame.

  17. By Jon on Sep 19, 2009

Got a Mako coming in, would like to see how it compares to this watch as it is in the same price range.

  18. By Ben on Sep 19, 2009

Gorgeous dial layout. I must get me one!

  19. By FernandoC on Sep 19, 2009

This is really classic! Simple (probably learned form Patek Philip) clean and true. Congrats Orient!

It’s true Eric. Their online competition is usually outpricing their Deal of the Day site, making their deals…not so much. It is a shame.

We can’t expect things on the cheap all the time though. Maybe we will see what happens in the next few days.

I usually don’t even get responses to emails anymore so who knows. Maybe the quality is starting to slack since they have a market now.

    BEAUTIFUL watch !!!!!!!

  23. By Ray on Sep 19, 2009

How about the Orient Star World Time WZ0081FA as a DOD ?

Nice looking watch! Would love a black leather strap with that.

  26. By Jim Kelley on Nov 3, 2009

Great looking watch! Correct your ad copy however-in the first paragraph it says you “need” a battery! Also you should state the case size of each watch so people will know if it is the size that they feel comfortable with. Keep up the great customer friendly services.

  27. By adam on Nov 3, 2009

this is a stunning watch. I can barely take my eye off of it.

  28. By Jeff Davis on Nov 4, 2009

I love the fact that for some of Orient more classic, dressier lines (like this one) that you guys used a domed crystal. This harkens back to the heyday of mechanical watches where the crystal iteself played a larger role in the design aesthetic of this style of watch. It is rare to find a watch at this price point w/ a quality automatic movement that provides an such elegantly fitted domed crystal. Well Done!

    Looks like a Nice Watch

  30. By Danish Lakhani on Nov 8, 2009
