ORIENT CEV09001B Automatic Watch

September 29th, 2009 | 41 Comments

This classic timepiece is a watch that should truly be treasured. This model follows the motif of classic looks throughout the history of mechanical watches. There are, however, a few minor changes that add to its traditional theme. This may be the perfect gift for your father or for yourself if you enjoy traditional Men’s watches.

Although there are many watches that follow the same design, this watch’s features are truly exceptional. If you look closely at the surface of the dial, you will notice the checkered patterns that give the dial extra texture. Also, there is the day indicator so that you are able to view the day of the week at the 6 o’clock position, with the date on the 3 o’clock position.

Another feature for this watch is its luminescent hands. This allows the owner
to enjoy the watch anytime day or night.

The watch case is water-resistant up to 50 meters.

You will notice that the crown comes with the official Orient logo engraving.

There are two different levels to the crown (time-setting knob). The first level adjusts the date indicator located on the 3 o’ clock position. The second level adjusts both the time hands and the date of the week. To change the day on the watch, you have to first rotate the hour hand forward in time until you notice the change of the day i.e. from Monday to Tuesday.

This watch comes with a stainless steel band which features both polished and matte links to give the band a more 3 dimensional look.

The case also has the official Orient logo engraved and is made of stainless steel, with a thickness of 11 mm, which is not to “show offy” and perfect for dad.

Notice the fold over push button clasp which comes with this Orient. This is designed to prevent the watch from coming off the wrist unintentionally. Also notice the clasp has the Orient logo engraved on it, again, very classic.

I have the white dial variant, terrific watch.

  3. By Todd on Jul 29, 2009

Love this watch…I have the silver/white textured dial version with a brown band. I probably wear it more than any other watch. Keeps great time and the full day calendar is helpful. The quality is perfect; at 12 o’clock, all the hands line up exactly and it runs very well. I wish I could order just the metal bracelet from this watch, anyone know a site I can do that at?

  4. By Robert Foster on Jul 29, 2009

You left out the most important stat, the lenght of the band. If it’s to short the go around my wrist no sence in buying it,right.thanks

  5. By Brad Smith on Jul 29, 2009

    Another very classic looking watch.

  6. By Evan S. on Jul 29, 2009

Great watch. Agree with Brad about it being classic. Can’t really feel bad spending money on this one since I know I’ll wear it forever. Thanks for offering this.

  7. By Ryan on Jul 29, 2009

Great but too small for my wrists though, how about this in a 44mm so it doesnt look like a womans watch :)

  8. By Vladimir on Jul 29, 2009

Excellent watch, ORIENT. Just another great timepiece.

  9. By Frank In Miami on Jul 29, 2009

Very sweet. Wish it had solid end links though.

  10. By RobG on Jul 29, 2009

Liking the full name display on the 6-eater day wheel…bit Oris-like.

  11. By PickyYonker on Jul 29, 2009

I have three european automatic watches and one orient multieyes. This orient one is second to none. The movement is amazingly accurate. It only gains less than 3 seconds a day. The watch is well polished and the bracelet is well designed. Most importantly, Orient watches are under priced when compared with their european competitors of the same quality.

I have this model with the white dial. Gorgeous texture on the face.

    Kinda liking this one!

Hmmmmmm, a “special introductory offer.” Why whatever could that BE? An Orient Star in candy apple red, perhaps? lol

  15. By FernandoC on Sep 29, 2009

    Cool watch indeed!

  16. By andrew on Sep 29, 2009

    Very handsome watch.

  17. By Chris on Sep 29, 2009

I’m pretty sure the deal of the day pages are recycled from previous DoDs, just with a different price.

It’d be nice if they actually checked for all changes because that message has been around for a while now and I’m pretty sure you aren’t getting some special introductory offer.

  18. By Denny on Sep 29, 2009

Great watch and very classic looking watch.

  19. By Bob on Sep 29, 2009

what a great looking watch, stellar looking bracelet…almost reminds me of a vintage Omega circa 1950

I have this watch in white with leather band. The picture does not do it justice, The face on this watch is beautiful. It was a gift. I wear it when we go out and it looks great

Titanium M- force is the first of my wish list

    accuracy and Taft.
but need to improve the style.

sometimes need to make limited edition product.

  25. By Lucas on Oct 1, 2009

    Classic design- simple and clean.
Love what it does NOT have- a bezel (note- Orient bezels are unidirectional, as they need to be to work) or a tachymeter which just adds visual clutter (and I never need to calculate speed.. who does?!).
Moreso to the point, a tachymeter on a watch is about as useful as the weiner hole on men’s underwear- most have it, but nobody uses it.
When I was young, I had an Orient watch that outlasted everything else. Got it as a present in 8th grade and had it well after college. Stunning durability amidst consistent severe abuse.
I ordered mine, excited for it to arrive.
Orient watches are way, way ahead of all others in terms of value, design, durability, warranty, etc. Just superb stuff.

Very sturdy and elegant watches from Orient. Buy one and you would wear it everyday.

  27. By Larry Morris on Oct 1, 2009

I just bought this watch for my dad. Again the pictures don’t do it justice. The texture of the face is most interisting.

Very classy looking watch. Little bit small for my wrist…I wish it was 41mm in diameter, at least.

  30. By Luke on Oct 1, 2009

Got mine today (1 day shipping!!!).
Despite very high expectations, it exceeded all.
    Simply gorgeous.
    Built quality is stellar.
    Looks and feels great.
Beyond thrilled, this is my new everyday watch.
    Clean, gorgeous design.

This watch looks beautiful, I’m saving up for it now. I’ve only heard good things about your company! I’m in love with watches, particularly automatics with style – and from what I’ve heard so far I can’t miss with one of these. I’ve spent too much money on Skagen’s Cheap Quartz watches that are flimsy! Crossing my fingers, next paycheck I think I can get one of these.

I can’t wait to save up for my new diver!

  39. By Bart on Aug 27, 2010

I bought one of these watches when I was in the Navy. I’m not sure of the price, I think it was around $100.00. That was in 1974, the watch still works perfectly after 33 years,
but I only wear it on special occasions. Hope that helps.

You can order from outside the US, I ordered mine from Australia as there is no Orient distributor here – just email Joey at Orient and he will give you te details and an offer code.

I have researched automatic watches and love the Orient story. I am greatly looking forward to owning one soon, and more in the future. The watch pictured here is beautiful, but I have my heart set on the Blue Mako as my first Orient. Thanks for your commitment to quality automatics.
