CEM7500 series has the boldness and size that is popular in today’s market.
The size of the case is 45mm and has a lug size of 22mm, which gives the watch a
very muscular feel. The case is water resistant up to 200m and uses a screwed
case back.

Shown below from left to right the CEM75001B and the CEM65001B (Mako). Notice
the difference in style and size when compared to the Mako.

The dial is dressed with large luminous markers typical in most divers’ watches.
The bezel is uni-directional and calendar can be used in English and Spanish.

Can’t go wrong with this classic. I like the size choice offered by Orient. Although I am a pretty big guy, I prefer the medium sized watches rather than the super large beasts that have become so popular of late. This model seems to be about the upper limits of what I would consider wearable, and the impeccable classic style looks great.

  3. By Jon on Jul 4, 2009

Both Makos are beautiful and distinctive in style. It’s hard to decide on one!

  4. By bill kensler on Jul 4, 2009

nice big and heavy watch the way i like them great watch, great diver

  5. By Eric In Oregon on Jul 4, 2009

Too big for me. I have bird wrists. Awesome watch though. Be the first one the block to have the new Mako! Beware of salty sea captains, though.
    Love, Jaws

  6. By Douglas on Jul 4, 2009

Love the Mako. This version is probably too large for my small wrist though. Still, great styling.

  7. By Kody on Jul 4, 2009

Nice mako, it is too big for me. I wish the yellow mako can be featured here, not just amazon which does not help us get the affordable watch we want by raising prices.

  8. By Ray on Jul 4, 2009

Agree with Kody completely. This looks great but it’s too big for my wrist. Would love to pick up a yellow Mako, but not at Amazon prices.

  9. By Julio on Jul 4, 2009

Great looking diver!!! This could be my first Orient!

  10. By RobG on Jul 4, 2009

I really like the changes they’ve made to this watch. Removing the numerals in favor of large, easy to read markers was a good move. The slightly bigger size may limit the market a little but today’s trend of large watches should minimize it. I’d prefer this over the standard Mako.

Improvement suggestion for virtually all of these: Color-matched day/date wheels to the color of the face. In this case: black backround, white text.

And #2: I’d like to see an option of alternate day wheel languages (portuguese specifically)

  11. By JAE on Jul 4, 2009

Very nice classic watch. The price is just right as well.

  12. By George Peck on Jul 5, 2009

+1 on the color matched day/date wheels.

The hands on this watch are really nice, I especially like the second hand. I still like the old Mako better, cause I’m partial to numerals right now, but this is a great looking watch too.

  14. By bill anagnos on Jul 27, 2009

Great value for an Auto diver, Japanese made, I am wondering what the lume is like? Big Kudos for a NEW Bigger size

  15. By Richard Basic on Aug 28, 2009

A favorite watch that I wear almost everyday is my blue mako cem6500d. I have gotten many compliments on it and really appreciate the quality Orient offers for it’s value price.
I think the original Mako has a classic gentleman’s dress diver look. This new model is more a sport diver look, but since I do have large wrists I could see this watch as an everyday companion and the original Mako for more formal occasions.

  16. By Stephen Santoro on Sep 10, 2009

This watch is large and in charge with a considerable amount of weight. Great addition if you want a large watch that draws attention. I have the orange model and love it.

  17. By puneet on Sep 10, 2009

cool watch.. it does not look big. should be perfect on wrist

  18. By Kenneth Cross on Sep 10, 2009

  19. By shannon on Sep 10, 2009

this watch is a beautiful watch.. i want one for my boyfriend!!

  20. By MIKIE B on Sep 10, 2009

This watch will look great on my manly arm. It was made 4 me! When everyone admires it, I’ll make sure they know where to get their own.

  21. By MIKIE B on Sep 10, 2009

It’s a fine looking watch. It would
    be wonderful to have one!!

  22. By andy on Sep 10, 2009

a few things. Im glad to see that someone else is finally taking pictures for the site. These are much better.
What a beauty of a watch. I have 7 inch wrist and this thing fits perfectly.
I do wish you would put this face and bezel on the original mako case. As many have stated, this is a big watch.
And finally, im glad to see you guys are starting to feature a bigger variety of DOTD watches. The squarematics got old pretty quickly.

  23. By Rhonda on Sep 10, 2009

This is a great looking watch and it appears to possibly have awesome lume. I’d love to have this in another color.

  24. By chris on Sep 10, 2009

    Beautiful watch-very classy. Other colors?

  25. By Doug Davis on Sep 10, 2009

I own this watch in blue and it is fabulous…extremely comfortable and one of my most rugged divers. It is a great everday watch!

  26. By jk on Sep 10, 2009

  27. By Keith M on Sep 10, 2009

All around beautiful watch. Well made, nice fit and priced right.

  28. By Shawn on Sep 10, 2009

Really cool. I like most of the watches in your line. I’m thinking of adding this one to my inventory.

  29. By Gary Phillips on Sep 10, 2009

    Classy and stylish.

  30. By Todd on Sep 10, 2009

Big, bold and beefy, this new Mako is what happens when you take a classic watch and super size – looks great!

Does this mean other Orient’s are going to get the same treatment?

  31. By Chris on Sep 10, 2009

This is a great watch, but Lume was my biggest concern (and the lack of a yellow dial variety).

This is mostly for Bill Anagnos and Rhonda curious about Lume.

This was a Lume comparison on 3 Orient watches using UV light.

In general Orient makes great watches, but their Lume is average. I personally don’t need Lume that looks radioactive at night, but others like it and prefer it.

  32. By RKR on Sep 10, 2009

    Absurdly cool keychain!

  33. By Diane on Sep 10, 2009

Nice watch would like to have one of these.

  34. By Bob on Sep 10, 2009

The stock photos of the watches in general don’t do justice when compared to the pics shown today. Really good looking watch!!!

  59. By BaiBai on Sep 10, 2009

Most excellent review by Garwal and lume comparison by DoctorC, both very informative and helpful.

I have 4 more Makos (two are gifts) to order.

And I wish OrientUSA would bring the JDM Orient Star WZ0361D diver on board. At 30% off it would be a steal.

  60. By Diana on Sep 10, 2009

Awsome watch, great quality, would most definitely love to have one!

  63. By Vlad on Sep 10, 2009

Nice black color, they are very large and easy to notice. Unfortunately, I think for some people with a very thin wrist they will not look good. Maybe I am wrong.

Thanks for the free key chain!

  81. By Gary on Sep 10, 2009

I love the new style, I’s beautiful! Seems to be just the right size for my wrist, not like the bold faced that has become so trendy of late! All in all this watch is both classy and attractive! Will be able to wear to most any function, dressed to the 9′s or jeans and t shirt! Thanks for the opportunity!

my husband would love this he deserves it after a heart transplant 14 yrs :)

  96. By Jeff on Sep 10, 2009

Nice looking watch. Stainless steel watches help to sport a great look. I prefer a larger dive watch over a smaller sized watch any day.

  97. By Kody on Sep 10, 2009

    I never get the keychain

  98. By Stella on Sep 10, 2009

Beautiful watch! I know my sweetie would love one of these. Great price with superb features!

CEM65001B (Mako) looks great! Planning to get one.

  100. By yovanny on Sep 10, 2009

i’ve been looking for a nice size diver that has a presence on the wrist, this suits the bill, i don’t own an Orient watch yet, this may be my first

  101. By C. J. on Sep 10, 2009

Compare these to Sekio, which I wear..the quaility, craftmanship, warrenty, style is overall value is above what you’d expect to see anywhere for these prices! You’d never expect to find such a value in a timepiece !

  102. By Mitch on Sep 10, 2009

Just received the orange dial. Really doesn’t wear that big since the thick bezel reduces the dial diameter appearance. I put it on a black sharkskin band, looks more classy, less blingy.

  103. By Deepak on Sep 10, 2009

    Royal Choice..Trusty..Good looking..its my passion

  104. By Alfred on Sep 10, 2009

wow that’s such a classy watch!!

  105. By Elaine Pettegrow on Sep 10, 2009

The CEM75001B and the CEM65001B are classey, handsom watches. Their look exudes virility. They are a great gift for the manly man!

  106. By Jim on Sep 10, 2009

    Thanks! Very nice watches!

  107. By Frank In Miami on Sep 10, 2009

I’ll be the dissenting voice over this particular watch… While nice and all, it has 2 major downsides for a diver:

    Poor lume quality

    No pip on the bezel.

My money is on the Orient CFT00001B and 2B models. These blow the Hogrider Diver out of the water. Superior quality, finish, bracelet with solid end links, power reserve indicator, rotating bezel, tachymeter, nice lume, Breitling caliber bracelet, single screw down crown, 100m water rating, screw down exhibition caseback which is not even available in this watch.

If considering the CEM7500 hogriders, take a look at the CFT series Orients before ordering.

  108. By Kevin Harris on Sep 10, 2009

This is a classic design and Orient haspulled it off perfectly, the dial ,bezel and bracelet and clasp are done to perfection.

  109. By sharon yarbrough on Sep 10, 2009

The watch looks very expensive. I can see my grandson wearing this one to school and everyone commenting on its great, expensive, looks. He will love this watch.

  110. By Marin on Sep 16, 2009

Are there female versions of any of these watches? I love outdoor adventure and want a beautiful watch that can handle that kind of lifestyle. (The dressy stuff is for church.) Are these only for men? I just made creamed corn out of my Jules Jurgensen.

  111. By mark hellard on Sep 18, 2009

do you have this watch in stock and still at this price of 175.00 and do you take visa/master card gift cards to buy this watch ? thanks

  112. By Matt on Oct 30, 2009

These DOD prices still fail to be “deals”. I’m done visiting this site daily, sorry.

Just bought the new Mako and have worn it 24/7 for the past few days. It keeps accurate time and I love the new size. The packaging and the bracelet are excellent. I am very happy with the purchase.

  116. By Vince on Dec 18, 2009

I’m a fan of giant watches, the bigger the better – I just ordered an original Black Mako…had I been paying attention (something I’m finding harder and harder to do as I age…lol!), I’d have ordered this one HANDS DOWN!

  117. By Nick on Mar 23, 2010

The watch looks great. I would love to get one as my first automatic.

  118. By Nicholas Gomez on May 16, 2010

The CEM75001B is my ‘Grail Watch’. It’s great! Design-wise, I’ve observed that:

    a) It’s big but the non-tapered bracelet makes it look proportional. Something that is sadly lacking in the Rolex Sea-Dweller Deep Sea.

    b) The functionality, in a mechanical automatic is hard to beat for this price.

    c) It not only has date, but it’s a day/date. Very functional and informative.

    d) 200m water resistance is sufficient for the needs of most users.

In summation it is very hard to find anything wrong with this watch. It’s a watch I would LOVE to own, and would recommend to anyone looking for a good diver’s watch.

Thanks for the fantastic, informative site.

  119. By James on May 24, 2010

Such a handsome watch. It’s a bigger and better Mako if you have the wrist to carry it off. Would love to own one.

  120. By Andrew on Jun 16, 2010

Love the new watch, just ordered it off Longislandwatch.com, didnt find this site until I had already ordered….:( Guess I wont be getting a “mystery bag” with my purchase dangit!!

I’ve just seen this pure beauty and instantly forgot the Tag Heuer Classic 2000 watch that I wear for a loooooong time. This is absolute steel, absolute classic beauty.

  122. By Joel on Sep 20, 2011

This watch definitely has its unique appeal to it. Oriental is renowned for its tradition of attention for style and quality.Omega James Bond is classic style never goes out of fashion.
