Horology Events: Only Watch

October 4th, 2011 | 3 Comments

A couple of weeks ago, we reported on an exciting charity devoted to raising money for Duchenne muscular dystrophy research.  The Only Watch Charity Auction was held in Monte Carlo, Monaco on September 23, 2011.

The event featured 40 timepieces from some of the world’s most prestigious watchmakers.  An auction was carried out for the donated watches and philanthropists had the opportunity to bid on the exquisite timepieces.

The international event raised almost $6.2 million, with the highest bid coming in at almost $560,000 for a Patek Phillippe piece.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a genetic muscular degenerative disease that effects 1 out of every 3,600 male infants.  The funds raised at Only Watch will directly fund research aimed at understanding and treating DMD.

    Oriental Watches,

I just want to say how big a fan I am of you all and admire your philanthropic actions.

I’m currently working towards owning a couple of your watches and it pleases me to see that you all are an ethical company in addition to being a high-quality supplier.

What a fantastic event both for the cause and for some amazing watch viewing. That Patek must have been some watch. :)
