Funky Watch Outlook
December 15th, 2011 | 22 Comments | Comment and Win a Free Orient Watch Comment and Win a Free Orient WatchAs always, TokyoFlash blows our minds with the most eccentric and outrageous designs. But this time, we found ones from their design studio where people submit their ideas in order to be considered for manufacturing. The two designs we decided to feature are very interesting on two different levels.
The designer of Maru’s 5th Pocketwatch learned that the small pocket on the front of a pair of jeans was actually used for holding a pocketwatch so he created a modern spin on an old classic. It’s yo-yo appeal along with LED or LCD lighting makes for an interesting design.
And then there is the Time in Notes watch design. One of the more creatively appealing watches I’ve seen. The time is indicated by notes and/or sounds. It also includes a 440 Hz “A” sound to help with tuning your instruments. Super neat, to read more about these watches just click on their names!

Holy cow! A watch with a 440 hz tone and time by musical note?! I have no idea how to tell the time with it but as a musician I think I just found the coolest watch! Thanks Mark and Orient!

These are awesome watches! I love just about all that I looked at. I could probably never afford any of them, however. I’m hoping to be able to get a watch bag at least, but the when I click submit it says “Whoops! That didn’t go well.” Hope it went thru though. Keep up on the great watches though!!

that 5th pocket is really great. About time a wrist free watch had some class and panache.

I like the Time in Notes watch design and concept. Is it not only a great concept for musicians but also for the blind, or blind musicians. Nice to see a cool idea for a niche demographic that often gets ignored.
