I am looking at doing some work on a similar watch case style as this one but I'm not sure that the bezel actually comes off.

For example, this is the case of an Orient Star (FD) Classic.  Could the bezel be pried off at the point indicated at the arrow in the second pic?  Posted Image

Okay, I've taken some photos of the actual case.......

It looks the same around the lugs too.  I'm wondering whether I need a tool similar to a Horotec Case Crab or maybe it just looks like a bezel and but is part of the case design?  Posted Image

Yes that's where it would separate, they make a ridiculously overpriced tool for removing those things too.

hehe you posted while I was typing!

Hi Tony and Chris.  Thanks.  How would you go about getting the bezel off (without damage) without that tool?  I'm used to getting them off watches from the sixties and seventies but these look a lot more solid?  Posted Image

Have to admit, I wouldn't be prepared to give it a go on such a nice condition case.. Why do you need to remove it?

The case is as-is.  I thought I might clean up the scratches and dings and then try some movements and dials in there.  Sort of a project...! Posted Image

I was imagining this type of tool for the bezel removal...

but either way it may be interesting with those shouldered lugs protecting the bezel...
If you can get the bezel to lift at all you may be able to finish the job with a knife too...
