Featured Diver: 5 Reasons to Try the Orient Ray

Looking for a good quality, affordable diver watch? Whether just for looks, a well-built timepiece, or actual recreational diving or swimming, Orient’s Ray series fits the bill.

Check out these 5 reasons to try the Orient Ray.

1. 200m Water Resistance

Easily the most important aspect of any diver watch is its water resistance. The Orient Ray features 200m water resistance.

While 200m water resistance may not be suitable for a professional deep sea diver, the 200m water resistance of Orient’s Ray series is sufficient for the recreational diver and is also suitable for swimming and other water sports.

2. In-House, Automatic Movement

The Orient Ray series, like all of Orient’s timepieces, contains an in-house, automatic movement. Specifically, the Ray features Orient Caliber 46943 movement.

The essential benefit of an automatic movement is that it’s self-winding and winds while you wear it. Additionally, Orient’s movements are manufactured on site, no outsourcing. The Ray watches also feature a 40-hour power reserve function, which means a full wind lasts approximately 40 hours.

3. Solid Stainless Steel Case

Another essential feature of any watch, especially a diver, is a solid case. The Orient Rays are contained in a sturdy, stainless steel case.

While most of the Ray watches also have a stainless steel band, the Ray Rubber watches (CEM6500BB and CEM6500CD) have a urethane, or rubber, band.

4. Variety of Styles and Colors

Though not essential to the functionality of a diver watch, the Ray series is available in a variety of styles and colors, including:

  • Blue dial and bezel with stainless steel or rubber band
  • Black dial and bezel with stainless steel or rubber band
  • Orange dial with black bezel and stainless steel band
  • Black dial, bezel, and IP coated stainless steel band

Each style offers a different look. For instance, the watches with rubber bands have a sportier look than the watches with classic stainless steel bands.

5. Luminescence

The Orient Ray watches are complete with lots of luminescence highlighting each hour as well as all three watch hands. This feature allows you to read time in the dark and underwater.

My favourite feature of the Ray is the style, which IMO is an evolution of the original Mako. Add to that a proven in house movement at a great price and you have a watch which lots of us want, and, importantly, can afford. I’ve already ordered my EM65009D but its so popular its been out of stock for months. Conclusion, don’t hesitate to pull the trigger, see it, like it, buy it!

Adoro a marca e sonho em ter um relógio automático, só que custam muito caro então não posso adquirir. A marca Orient é referência mundial e gostaria de ter um produto dessa empresa.

This is the best quality to value divers watch on the market. I own many watches but choose to wear the Orient on a daily basis. The automatic movement gives +/- 5sec a day far better than quoted. The quality of finish is superb. This watch won’t disappoint any buyer. Grab one when you can.
