CEX0R001B vs. CET05001W: Which is Classier?

May 5th, 2010 | 18 Comments

The CEX0R001B and the CET05001W “Sky” are both classic executive automatics from Orient.

So if you’re looking for a clean, simple and traditional watch, the question is: which watch is the classier choice for you?

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at these two watches:

CEX0R001B features

The Orient CEX0R001B offers a simple face with few disturbances aside from the Power Reserve Indicator at 12 o’clock and the date calendar at 3 o’clock. The numerals are kept to a minimum, located at each quarter. Other hour markers are labeled with a clean, silver bar detail.

The watch’s hands are a slender sword-shape, which makes reading the time quite easy.

  • $235 price tag

  • Stainless steel case and band
  • 41mm diameter
  • 11mm thickness
  • 50m water resistance

CET05001W features

The CET05001W “Sky” is a bit more complicated than the CEX0R001B as it has multi-eyes for day, date and 24-hour clock. Furthermore, the appearance and colors are a bit more vibrant than on the CEX0R001B. The white and silver color scheme on the “Sky” is offset by bright blue hands and a more textured dial.

Check out these additional features:
  • $160 price tag
  • In-house movement
  • 40-hour Power Reserve
  • Stainless steel case and band
  • 42mm diameter
  • 13mm thickness
  • 50m water resistance

Both watches offer a lot of features for a little price tag, and you may be torn between the two. So…

Which watch is the one for you?

The CEX0R001B is certainly the quieter of these two watches, and if you prefer something subtler and basic, I’d suggest going with the CEX0R001B instead of the CET05001W.

However, the CET05001W is the more affordable option and has a fresher look. Plus, it’s a more popular choice for Orient fans and watch collectors than the CEX0R001B.

The CET05001W is also a bit larger than the CEX0R001B, which is important if you prefer a more demanding presence from your watch. On the other hand, the CET05001W lacks a Power Reserve Indicator. This feature is important to some people because it allows them to know when their watch needs to be charged (i.e. worn).

Though it doesn’t have a PR Indicator, the CET05001W does have multi-eyes; some people may find this feature unnecessary as it over-complicates an otherwise simple watch face as on the CEX0R001B.

Either Orient Automatic would be an excellent choice for an executive setting, but I’ll have to give my “Which is Classier?” vote to the CEX0R001B.

I like the CET05001W because the face of the watch looks better and it has the day of the week.

I have to go with the CET05001W. The white/silver face and blued hands give this watch a classic appeal that the black face version can’t match.

I like the white face with the Black leather band. It just looks good. The black leather sets off the face, for sure. It’s much more classy than the black dial.

i’d prefer the CEX0R001B for it has power reserve indicator. For me it looks more classic than the CET05001W, if for fancy i’d choose CET05001W, but for classic look i definitely chose CEX0R001B.

I say the CEX0R001B. The other is a handsome watch, no doubt, but I prefer a simple design. This watch is simple, clean and elegant. The PR is, I think, more useful than the day indicator. But either one is a fine choice.

I will choose CEX0R001B as it has the most classic and elegant look and also the black dial perfectly matches with the s/s case and strap

After looking at both the Orient CEX0R001B and CET05001W models, I feel the CEX0R001B is a bit more classy by a tick. My definition of classy is simple, elegant, and refined. Although the CET05001W offers a more bold styling, the CEX0R001B has the less is more look, from the bracelet design to the sword shaped watch’s hands.

The CEXoRoo1B in my opinion has a simplistic yet elegant design and very classy. It seems to have more versatility as an accessory to the buyers wardrobe.

My vote goes to the cee0500w “s” it has a clasic look either as a elegant dress watch or a every day classy sport watch.

I am going to have to vote for the CET05001W. The dial has a much cleaner “classier” look. Whether paired with the SS bracelet or Leather band you’ll wow people with the stunning timepiece on your wrist.

Of the two watches listed, I like the CEX0R001B, however I would have compared it to the CFD0E001W.

I prefer the CEX0R001B for its simpler, classic dial design. Also the smaller case size better suits my wrist. However i would replace the bracelet for a leather strap for a formal look.

I like the cleaner and simpler black dial on the 05001w

I currently own the CET05001W, and although I love it, I would have to go for CEX0R001B when it comes to class. Fancier/dressier is one thing, but the simpler face in black I would personally consider more old school. And in my mind, old school is class. So the CEX0R001B has my vote for classier.
