The CDH00001B Dual Time is a one-of-a-kind automatic that uses some of Orient’s newest watch innovations to date.

Read on to learn more about this cool timepiece:

Dual time feature

The CDH00001B automatic offers a dual time feature.

What does that mean?

Basically, the watch can display the time in two different countries at the same time.

This feature is ideal for Orient’s Executive Collection because it’s a great choice for someone who frequently travels between time zones. This added convenience makes it easy to know what time it is no matter where you are.

An almost all black dial and leather band also add to this watch’s executive appeal. It can easily go from business to casual or sporty.

To use dual time, simply rotate the inner ring crown, and combine your current location with the current time.

This feature is possible because of the CDH00001B’s special movement.

48K40 movement

The 48K40 movement on the CDH00001B black automatic is a new movement just released by Orient.

What’s special about it?

This movement is fully capable of hacking, which means when you unscrew the crown to set the time, the seconds hand stops too. This is used to synchronize your watch with a reference (e.g. world clock).

Many enthusiasts have taken note of this feature on the CDH00001B because it’s a rare quality of Orient Watches in the U.S.

Other features

Let’s check out some other good features on the CDH00001B:

  • 40 hour Power Reserve and Indicator: you’ll know when it’s time to charge your watch.
  • Sapphire crystal: don’t worry too much about scratching sapphire, it earns a 9 out of 10 on the Mohs Scale.
  • Skeleton case back: you can see Orient’s movement in action with this see-through backing.
  • Stainless steel case: keeps your watch sturdy, durable and free of corrosives.
  • Genuine leather band: a comfortable alternative to a stainless steel band.
  • 50m water resistance: you can immerse it in water, but try not to.

This black automatic watch also has a classy, high-tech presence. Some may argue that the dial is too busy, but it’s a matter of personal preference.

If you enjoy the large, gadget-y features on Breitlings or other Orients like the CEY04002B, for example, you will probably also enjoy the CDH00001B.

CDH00001B is a beautiful piece that I would be proud to wear. The price seems very reasonable for the functionality of the watch. I like that it has the Hack feature as well. This will be put on my gift wish list.

I used to have this watch. Model CDH00002B with the brown leather strap and 2 tone dial to be exact. Nice watch overall, but I had 2 dislikes about it:

    1) Too big for being a “dressy” type of watch. I like bigger sized watches but somehow the 46″ case width of this one didn’t work well.

    2) The lugs are not curved well enough. Add to that a caseback that protrudes out a little too much. The end result is a watch that sits on top of your wrist but doesn’t quite fit the curvature of it well.

    3) The 48K40 movement hacks but doesn’t hand wind. Huge oversight in part of Orient on a watch that retails for nearly $600. I also had a sporadic problem with the hacking in this movement on that it would suddenly stop the watch even if the mainspring was fully wound. Fortunately, it didn’t happen all the time.

I love Orients, but won’t buy another until hack and hand wind becomes standard issue on all of them.

Another correction from the article above…. This watch is rated for 50m or 5 bar water resist and does not have a screw down crown.

I’ve been looking for an automatic watch with a slide rule and dual time. In my line of work, all three of those features are very valuable. Would it be possible to offer this with a metal bracelet, and to bump up the water resistance to at least 100m? (preferably 200m?) Do that and I’ll buy one right away. Make sure you keep the sapphire crystal. Enhanced shock resistance would be nice to have. A relatively clutter-free dial is also desirable. I’m indifferent to the back window, the power reserve indicator, and even the hacking.

This watch is a dream. Tastefully elegant in design, yet bold and masculine to wear in many professional environments. A technological feat for Orient and watch makers, enough to be very proud of. Innovation that I admire enough to be proud of and would love to wear on my wrist around my colleagues. Yes, a dream perhaps, but I’d rather dream of such beauty than to not dream of the timepiece at all. And for that I thank you, Orient, for accomplishing such incredible design and engineering.
