Orient's Singature in-house Movements

There’s no question about it: people are enamored with brand names. From clothes, to hair products, to watches! How many watch ads do you see when skimming through a fashion magazine?  I counted – about 6-8, actually.

But there are many brand name watch companies who don’t design or manufacture their own mechanical movements! That’s one of the many reasons why Orient is a trustworthy brand name for watches: they develop and assemble their own in-house movements.

Some companies, whose names I won’t mention, rely on others to create the movements for their watches. Orient is well known for creating their own watches inside and out, to perfection. That is how they created a following in the first place, not by jacking up the price and slapping a typical name brand on it! Check out Orient’s website for more information on how they create their movements!

I’ve been scoping out the Sunbeam but haven’t yet gone for it. I like that you build your own movements!

In this plastic wrapped, digital world, people buy automatic watches because they want to have something that shows real craftsmanship, ingenuity, and care. So if you’re going to buy an automatic might as well buy one that actually exhibits those qualities, instead of an outsourced “frankenwatch”. These brands should just have “assembled by Omega, Tag Heuer, etc.” on the face.

Nothing wrong with putting your name on something that you are proud of.

I like the fact that Orient does its own movements. And that they’re so excellently made. Good job!

People always remark about the beauty of my Orient two-tone blue dial dive watch. It has the look of a ten thousand dollar watch and keeps perfect time. I will always say “Orient watches are the worlds best kept secret”. I will buy another Orient. ” Best buy on the planet!”.

I’ve had three Orient watches.. ended up giving them to friends and family as an excuse to obtain a different watch. They are a great value.

    Precision, Prestige and Attainability

While most company concentrate on the first 2. Orient got all 3 in perfect equilibrium. The better things in life shouldn’t cost an arm an a leg and Orient watches are tangible proof.

A quick 30 minute internet search, on what the collective horologists think are the best quality-price-ratio amongst automatic watch maker yields the name Orient.

The hardest part of searching is actually deciding which Orient style to buy. I can actually start “a collection”. :)

Got the sunbeam watch for a 100 dollar. Can’t beat the price nor the look. Got the look of a higher brand and the best deal. Has a sapphire crystal which makes it even better considering how much it cost to just have a sapphire crystal.
